Some restaurants serve Italian food. Guisseppe's Restaurant on Oak Ridge Road serves the kind of meal that makes people stop mid-bite and say, out loud, that it's the best they've ever had. That's not marketing copy. That's a direct quote from the people who've driven up to Newfoundland and sat down at a table here.

The portions alone tell you something about the kitchen's philosophy. A Chicken Parmigiana order arrives as three large cutlets draped over a mountain of macaroni. The seafood capellini is layered and briny and deeply satisfying. The calamari is the kind that converts people who think they don't like calamari, perfectly crispy on the outside, tender within, never greasy. The seafood soup has drawn comparisons to something a grandmother would spend all day making.

The owner is a regular presence, the kind who actually talks to guests and remembers faces. That personal touch shows up in everything from the consistency of the food to the warmth of the room. With 273 reviews averaging 4.5 stars, Guisseppe's has earned its reputation the only way that matters: one plate at a time.

What We Offer

The menu at Guisseppe's is built around the classics of the Italian-American table, executed with care and served in quantities that feel genuinely generous. Appetizers like the fried calamari and Caesar salad set the tone before the mains arrive. Pasta dishes, chicken preparations, and seafood options anchor the menu, with the penne vodka and seafood capellini drawing particular praise from regulars.

Dine-in is the experience here. This is food meant to be eaten at the table, with time to enjoy it. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday, with extended evening hours on Friday and Saturday for those who want to make a proper night of it. Check the current hours before you visit, as Tuesday and Wednesday service begins at 2:00 PM while Thursday through Sunday opens at noon.

"When I say that this is the best Italian food that I have ever had, I mean it very literally. The seafood soup was incredibly flavorful, the calamari was perfectly crispy and light, the penne vodka was divine, and the red snapper was so so so tender and balanced and easy to eat."

"Excellent Fried Calamari, great Caesars Salad, Portions were tremendous like if you were eating your Last Supper on Earth. My Chicken Parmigiana had to be 3 Large Cutlets over plenty of macaroni, my friend had Spaghetti & Meatballs, low & behold the plate came out with 7 large meatballs on top of the pasta. Needless to say we left with Doggie Bags, enough food for the next two days! The dining area is just a lovely space with white tablecloths & Italian pictures on the walls. From the outside you would never expect such a great place. The manager & waitresses were accommodating, and friendly. Great menu. Check it out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Hidden diamond. BYOB."

"Had an Awesome meal there last night! It’s been a few years, and we are Happy to say it’s only gotten better! Loved listening to Sinatra and Dean Martin while dining as well! In this world of Overpriced smaller portions this place delivers in a BIG way! Fair prices and LARGE portions (enough for 2 meals☺️) of delicious food! All of the seafood and pasta were excellent and my 10 year old son thought is penne vodka with chicken was “The best!” A definite not miss was the bang bang Shrimp appetizer! So unique and flavorful! And you even get a nice Italian salad with your Entree. Not to mention the friendly and attentive staff! This is now our regular Italian byob spot! 🍝🍷"

"Overall, food is pretty good, just standard Italian. The big gripe - the dishes say “real crab meat”. It’s why 3 people in our family ordered it. The crab is the fake strips you see at Asian restaurants. Not sure what happened, but makes us question the quality of the rest of the food as well. You can see in the photos…"
